Summer Activities for the Kids
As one of the most family friendly hotels in Essex, we thought it was time to share our top choices for things to do in Essex this summer…
Head to Adventure Island and you can enjoy 32 rides of varying scares and excitement. Entrance is free, but wristbands start at £15 and go up to £22.50 depending on height. If you have a coloured wristband, you can try out attractions that will test your nerve or enjoy slower paced rides for a relaxed day out. Kids of all ages won’t want to leave! Named in 2016 as one of the top five friendliest parks in the world at the annual Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards, you’ll want to spend the day here if you spent some time in Essex this summer.
100 acres of open space and a 1.2km play trail – what more could the kids want this summer? With a giant seesaw, a climbing forest, tyre swings, sand, water play area, slides and much more, this country park and play trail suits families of all ages. If the weather stays as bright as it has done, Great Notley is the perfect destination for bike rides, horse rides, walks, fun, picnics – even your four-legged friend can join you! This is definitely one of the more nature-focused things to do in Essex.
Steam engines, carriages, and wagons – this railway museum has it all. Get hands-on and try working the Signal Box, take pretend journeys in the carriages as well as some real ones on the Mini Rail. During August Bank Holiday your little ones can meet Thomas, the Fat Controller, Toby and Henrietta. With an Imagination Station, performing clowns and Punch and Judy shows, you can get involved in all the railway fun this summer.
Between 1st and 29th August you can take your little ones to Promenade Park for 5 hours of inflatable fun. From 11am to 4pm, and for just £6 entry, you can stay as long as you like and enjoy the park and activities. Stop by on the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th August. Perhaps take a picnic, some of your own activities and relax. The weather has been perfect for it!
