and you can participate in this fantastic literary themed guided walk. Be prepared to discover serpents, detectives and many other literary characters and their creators who have walked the streets of Colchester.
Spring Food, Home and Lifestyle Fair
Cressing Temple Barns will be hosting a Spring Food, Home and Lifestyle Fair on Saturday 24th March and Sunday 25th March. You can browse a huge range of indoor and outdoor stalls and learn the latest techniques from various demonstrations. MasterChef Contestant Ondine Hartgroves will be in attendance as will cookery supremo Sophie Grigson. If you love to cook then this is one you won’t want to miss!
A Very Victorian Easter
Head to the Royal Gunpowder Mills at Waltham Abbey and you can see what life was like in Victorian times. With guest Professor Nitrate and crew on-hand at this Victorian Easter event to entertain, the whole family can enjoy some Victorian themed fun this Easter. You can visit on Good Friday 30th March to Sunday 15th April.
Cinderella On Ice
Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre in Chelmsford will be presenting a musical version of Cinderella from Wednesday 11th April to Sunday 15th April. The beloved tale will take on a new lease of life as performers showcase their talents on the ice. Little ones and older members of the family alike are sure to be transfixed by the impressive dancing on the ice.
Hylands House will play host to mini explorers on Wednesday 11th April. Their expedition will begin on the Hylands Estate, where they will discover new plants, wildlife and stories that they won’t have heard before. Once they have gathered their knowledge and become more familiar with the estate, they will head inside to create a scrapbook that will document their adventure.
The National Flower Show
Hylands House and Gardens will celebrate the best of gardening on Friday 18th May through to Sunday 20th May. Not forgetting home and lifestyle, Hylands House and its surrounding gardens will offer a plethora of plants and flowers at The National Flower Show, and we are certain they will be inspiration for your own garden in the coming months.
A Vintage Affair
Sunday 20th May will see Hedingham Castle become a truly Vintage Affair. Returning for its 6th year, you can explore over 60 stalls and enjoy live music from the Big Band, Rockabilly Singers, Lindy Hoppers and much more. There will even be hair styling stations and many classic cars to fawn over.
Barleylands’ Farmers Markets
Head to Barleylands on Saturday 26th May and you can tantalize your taste buds with a whole host of handmade treats and delicious local food. Have a shopping list ready but be prepared to deviate from it – there is so much on offer you might not have room in the fridge.
